Diaspora Square has Kicked off

  

“This Statue is a symbol of the best of what we can achieve together,”
Addis Ababa: On August 12, 2015 near Meganagna round about “ The Diaspora square” kicks off by placing a foundation stone today by his Honorable Mayor Deriba Kuma, Mayor of Addis Ababa, and His Excellency Dr.Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
The Government of Ethiopia has been taking different measures to ensure that the knowledge, experience, skills, and financial resources of Ethiopians in the Diaspora contribute to national growth. To mark these five-day Diaspora Day festivals “the first Diaspora Day” in Ethiopia, StudioNet has been commissioned to design and consult a memorial monument for the diaspora Square by Zefmesh Plc and The diaspora association in the heart of addis ababa, the capital city of African .
The statue designed by StudioNet is a symbolic representation of diaspora community as “NEW HUB” Connecting Ethiopia to the rest of the world.

The two pillars chained to a globe symbolizes the commitment of knowledge transfer by the Diaspora’s to the ongoing growth and transformation of the nation. On the other hand the swirl mirror reflecting the face of the city, spiraling pattern on the globe is a symbolic representation of the diaspora community roll in propagating the news of ” The Renaissance of Ethiopia” to the world.
The square also includes a state-of-the-art water fountain, green public areas.
Many people have worked tirelessly to make this landmark project to be visible
